Health checkups in China

A full checkup in a day or two

Screening at the checkup centres of large hospitals in Kunming and Chongqing, planned around your age, medical history and goals. Your coordinator interprets the doctor's explanation of your results into English.

Your checkup at a glance

Five things to know

1 day

Done in one day

Most tests fit into one checkup day at the hospital's checkup centre, in one building. Larger checkups can run into a second day.

Chosen for you

What's tested

Blood tests, organ function, imaging and a doctor's consultation. The hospital's doctors choose the tests for your age, history and concerns.

Same day to 3 days

When results are ready

Many results are ready the same day or within 1–3 days. Some, such as pathology, take longer; we send them on after you fly home.

A hospital doctor

Who explains them

The hospital's doctor goes through your results with you, your coordinator interprets, and you get an English translation of the report.

Fast overnight

How to prepare

Usually no food from the night before. Bring earlier reports and a list of your medicines; your coordinator sends exact instructions.

Checkup options

Pick a starting point. The hospital's doctors adjust it.

These are common starting points. The hospital's doctors finalise which tests are appropriate for you.

Comprehensive executive checkup

A broad review of your overall health: blood tests, organ function tests, imaging and a doctor's consultation.

Heart & vascular

For those with a family history of heart disease, high blood pressure or high cholesterol: cardiac tests and vascular imaging as advised by the doctor.

Cancer-focused screening

Screening options chosen according to your age, sex and risk factors, discussed with the doctor in advance.

Digestive health

Gastroscopy and colonoscopy, with sedation available, depending on your age and any symptoms.

Women's health

Gynaecological and breast screening, bone density and hormone-related checks.

Men's health

Prostate, cardiovascular, metabolic and lifestyle-related screening.

Some tests, such as CT scans, are only recommended when the benefit outweighs the risk. The hospital's doctors will advise which tests suit you. We do not provide medical advice.

A typical schedule

What your checkup trip looks like

Day 1

Arrive & rest

Airport pickup, hotel check-in and a briefing from your coordinator: fasting instructions and what to bring.

Day 2

Checkup day

An early start, before breakfast. Your coordinator accompanies you through every test and interprets for you when you speak with the doctors.

Day 3+

Results, then explore

Review available results with a doctor, add a specialist visit if needed, then enjoy the city.

If something is found

We can arrange a specialist consultation or further tests in China, or pass the hospital's written recommendations to your doctor at home.

Add some wellness

Combine your checkup with a TCM wellness programme, a relaxing stay or a short trip in Yunnan or around Chongqing.
